The idea for this website started with the Maynland farm issue. As a neighbor of the farm I found that it was almost impossible get information on what was going on thru the local newspapers. I also noted it was also almost impossible to get good factual information to all the neighbors to let them all know what was going on. So with a little help from friends we started this website. The purpose was to get information to the neighborhood and also let the neighbors have a was to get information to each other.
This site, Napervoice.com, proved to be very successful in getting neighbors informed and then activate them to do something in their own community. The neighbors used the website and to vent and also to inform each other of issues in our neighborhood, and to get the latest information about what was happening. Due in some part to the website and the level of excitement it raised on this one issue we were able to have the largest crowd at the city council and single largest number of speakers on a subject (62) up to that date.
After some thought the site was expanded to offer help to other neighbors and friends that were having the same types of issues in the city. The Hobson Ponds people were doing the same things as our group had just done and we offered help to them. The idea that most all groups felt powerless when first dealing with city issues made us think that...well maybe it there was a place to find out were and what to do, just maybe more people would become involved in city issues.
Our purpose it to:
1.) Serve as a place where people can talk about local issues that effect them and post their ideas without too many formalities.
2.) Serve as place to find useful information on where to find, or go to get you issue solved or addressed.
3.) Serve as place to find and help liked minded people, interested in bettering their city and the world.
